I made the picture look a great deal better by turning the ISO speed way up. Not because this isn’t the best deal (it IS the best current deal for the SD1000) but because if you’re patient you CAN get this for less from time to time. Excellent camera, great price, but you’ll have to purchase a better memory card. The one that comes with it holds virtually nothing. I have a 2GB SD card and it holds 4000 pictures and about 30 min or so of video. This also takes very good videos. Print from memory cards and digital cameras. Compact, modern design with an LCD display.

Normal JPEG 3072 x 2304 : 32 - with 32MB card ?? Super-fine JPEG 2592 x 1944 : 11 - with 32MB card ?? I’m running with a 2gig card at the moment which will probably serve my needs most of the time. On some shorter trips I anticipate even leaving the digital video camera at home and using this instead. Memory cards (the much smaller form factor of the SD format is also a big improvement) are so cheap these days that it’s possible to record several minutes of high quality video (640 by 480), great for those times when you wish you’d lugged your video camera with you. The videos are easily transformed to your computer as AVI files using the Zoom Browser software and the high-speed USB 2.0 link.

There is a problem with keeping the lens cap on and the location of the SD card slot may be a bit annoying. The biggest problem is the 12x lens which has been known to cause distortion on the sides of the lens as well as causing chromatic aberration.
